Lance Armstrong

Lance Armstrong was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 1996 and it had spread to his brain and lungs. He was originally given a poor chance of survival, but he went on to not only beat cancer, but also win the Tour de France 7 times !

Christina Applegate

Christina Applegate underwent a double mastectomy after doctors found cancerous lumps in one of her breasts in July 2008. She is now very involved in breast cancer prevention and has started her own foundation.

Ruby Dee

Ruby Dee is more than an Emmy and Grammy Award-winning actress; she’s a
renaissance woman and legend. She used her celebrity to fight civil injustices
during the Civil Rights Movement alongside heroes like Martin Luther King Jr.
and Malcolm X. Dee used that same tenacity to fight cancer and is currently a
30-plus-year survivor of the disease

Sheryl Crow

After discovering she had breast cancer during a routine mammogram, the 
Grammy-winning singer-songwriter underwent minimally invasive surgery for 
early-stage breast cancer in February 2006, followed by six weeks of radiation. 
She has since campaigned to raise awareness about the importance of annual 
mammograms.

Edie Falco

“The moment the doctor says, 'We have bad news'
is life  changing," the Nurse Jackie star told  Health magazine, recalling her 2003
breast cancer diagnosis. "I  couldn't walk. I couldn't breathe." She originally
chose to keep her diagnosis a  secret. "It was very important for me to keep my
diagnosis under the radar, even  from the cast and crew of The Sopranos,
because very well-meaning people  would have driven me crazy asking, 'How are
you feeling?' she said in the 2008  Health interview. "I would have
wanted to say, 'I'm scared, I don't feel  good, and my hair is falling out’." In the years since her remission, Falco has  served as a spokeswoman for the Y-Me Breast Cancer Organization

Sharon Osbourne

Sharon Osbourne was  not diagnosed was not diagnosed with breast cancer, but her colon cancer  diagnosis in 2002, followed by her discovery that she carried the gene for 
breast cancer, prompted the Osborne family matriarch to undergo a preventative 
double mastectomy in 2012. "As soon as I found out I had the breast cancer gene,
  I thought, 'The odds are not in my favor'," she  told Hello! magazine in 2012. "I've had
cancer before and I didn't want  to live under that cloud. I decided to just
take everything off."

Wanda Sykes

After receiving a breast 
cancer diagnosis in Feb. 2011, comedian Wanda Sykes opted for a double 
mastectomy. "I just wanted the best odds," she  told PEOPLE magazine. "I made my decision because I love life." Three  months after the surgery, she said: "I feel whole
again—I really do."

Robin Roberts

In the summer of 2007, Good Morning
America
cohost Robin Roberts underwent surgery, chemotherapy and radiation
to treat her  breast cancer. She chronicled her health battle on the morning
show, which  served to raise awareness for the disease. In 2012, she was
diagnosed with a  rare and debilitating blood disorder, which likely resulted
from her earlier  cancer treatments. The day she announced she would need a bone
marrow transplant  to cure the condition, the national  Be  the Match bone marrow registry experienced a 1800% surge in the number  of people who registered to be potential donors. She
underwent a transplant in  September 2012 and returned to GMA earlier this year.
